Alpha is coming to Holy Cross Parish on Thursday, February 1st, 2018!
The Alpha course due to start on February 1st is cancelled due to low registration.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question, and is designed to create conversation. There’s no pressure, no follow-up and no charge; it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for people who do not have a relationship with God, or for people who have been away from church for an extended period of time, or for people who have had little or no experience of the Christian faith. The videos are designed to encourage conversation and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. The small group discussions provide you with an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas without being corrected or judged.
How does it work?
Alpha is 11 sessions with a weekend away in the middle of the program. Sessions are from 6:15 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and are held at the church in Cote Hall. Each session includes food (donations are appreciated), a short video (30 minutes) and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure and no charge.
The Alpha Film Series is designed for today’s audience. It was filmed all around the world, and features interviews with world-famous leaders and inspiring stories. Two new hosts, Toby Flint and Gemma Hunt, join Nicky Gumbel to unpack the basics of the Christian faith in an updated and engaging way.
Alpha sessions are held at Holy Cross Parish and run from Thursdays starting January 26th through April 27th, 2017 from 6:15pm-8:30 pm.
